HRIT University recently organized a comprehensive Cybersecurity Awareness Session to educate students about the growing threats in the digital world. The session covered phishing (including smishing, vishing, spear phishing), password security, malware, ransomware, and social engineering tactics like evil twin Wi-Fi and juice jacking.
Cybersecurity experts Mr. Sambhav Jain and Ms. Meha Singh shared real-world insights on how hackers target students through fake internships, OTP scams, UPI frauds, and malicious QR codes. Students learned practical safety measures such as using multi-factor authentication (MFA), creating strong passwords, updating software, using VPNs on public networks, and reporting incidents to cybercrime.gov.in, 1930, CERT-In, and 112.
This initiative empowered students with essential digital safety skills, preparing them to be vigilant and responsible digital citizens in their academic, professional, and personal lives.
